Bad Translations - Another illustrated short story by Felicia Stevenson

I recently bought a T-Shirt that had one of those really itchy tags that they now strangely put midway down your side, which, while not the subject of my post, really really bugs me by the way.

What was wrong with putting them on the back of the collar where they've always been?  Don't they realize how sensitive and ticklish the skin on your side is?

Anyway,

If you speak any French at all, take a look at the washing instructions on the itchy tag in question and tell me if you see anything wrong with this:

???

Directly translated, "Suspendre à basse température" means "Hang at low temperature"

That seems awfully complicated to me.

Here, I've drawn you a picture of what I imagine that would look like:

Like I said: complicated.
And expensive!

The End.

I told you it was short.

Happy Vs Angry - An illustrated short story by Felicia Stevenson

This is me when I'm Happy

This is me when I'm Angry

These are things that make me happy:

  • Rainbows, lollipops and Unicorns  (um, wait a second: that's not me, that's Kelly from Real Housewives of New York!
  • Fireworks - in the sky or the bedroom ;)
  • My kids smiles
  • Sunny days by the pool
  • An afternoon nap
  • Sleeping in
  • My Family and REAL friends
  • People who appreciate me for all I am instead of what they think I should be
  • Seeing my page visit and followers numbers grow!!! ;)

These are things that make me Angry:

"I think I might eat a small child for dinner argh argh argh"

  • Liars
  • Predators
  • Fair weather friends (you know, people who only like you when you're doing something for them, and toss you aside whenever their done using you)
  • My kids smiles when they're laughing and I'm steaming!  (Makes me want to find new and creative ways to wipe that smile off their little faces... LOL)
  • Dealing with Bell - especially Emily - or any other automated answering service
  • Idiots that cut you off when you're driving, then give you S*** for honking at them (those people should be shot)
  • Bad customer service (which is everywhere!!!!)
  • People who judge what they don't understand
  • Most of all, I hate stupidity, because you just can't fix dumb!

Since we're on the subject of stupidity, here's a short list of some of the dumbest things I've ever heard  (these are just a few that come to mind, there are many, many, many more, it's very sad)
  1. "It's hard to be sympathetic to you as all of your Facebook posts have been positive" (because everyone should broadcast all of their problems on Facebook right?)
  2. "Does one half plus one half equal one or two?"  (This was from a grown woman!)
  3. From the tech at Videotron "Certain channels on your PVR are not working because it is not correctly connected to the television"
  4. "Will the CD flip over on it's own?"  from an old boyfriend.  I know.  Please just don't ask.  LOL
  5. "How do I know when the gas tank will be full?"  Same boyfriend.  I know, I know!  I'm not with him anymore am I?!  A university education sure doesn't guarantee any common sense, lemme tell ya!
BUT!
When I start to feel like this:
"I think I might start breathing fire soon... argh argh argh!"

I try to remember that in dealing with other people, it helps to remember the three C's:

You didn't Cause it;
You can't Control it;
and
You can't Cure it!

And then I think to myself:

"Hey- it could me much worse - you could be one of them!"

And I start to I feel like this again.

Haha! Much Love,

Can you See the Angel?

Can you see the Angel?

This photo was on the Weather Network and first caught my eye because of the colors (anyone who knows me but at all knows I love pink and purple!!!) but upon staring at it, a face became visible in the clouds.

Can you see it?  Post a comment if you do!

I've seen faces like this many times... just one of many reasons I believe in angels :)

Tyler's First Day!

My big boy started school today... I'm so proud!

His little brother cried his eyes out on the way to daycare this morning, really didn't want to be without his bro!

I'm excited for the school year, the curriculum is very diverse...

Can you believe he will learn how to use a PC this year? Even learn how to surf the internet. In kindergarten. I think I was in the sixth grade the first time we had a computer class! Oh how the times have changed!

Urine Testing for Welfare: A letter to Canadians

Here's one that's been bugging me lately:

Many people have been posting a status on facebook thanking Florida for making drung testing legal for welfare, and asking that Canada to the same... I think this is wrong on many levels, and here are but a few of the reasons why:

A single adult on welfare in my province receives $595 a month. That is the exact cost of just my rent.

After rent, food, hydro, phone and clothing, how much do people think is actually left over for drugs?!  What exactly about that life seems glamorous as well?

I think the people of our nation need to be far more concerned with the gross over spending of our government on thousands of programs which have no direct baring on our lives than with the peanuts that are thrown to the people who need help.

Plus!

Remember folks, addiction is a disease! People with a disease need help, not persecution.

If you don't like having to take a drug test at your job, you can choose to take another job, or better yet, why don't we just all stand up to that terrible invasion of privacy in the first place?!

Everyone keeps telling me the government is a big machine and you just can't change it.  Maybe it's time to just break the machine.
We as humans need to get our priorities straight, stop picking on the sick and the poor, start looking towards ourselves for answers, and daring to make change happen.

After all, where would this world be if it weren't for people like Rosa Parks and Galileo?
