Funny Fridays: Diet Cookies

Pin It This little bakery sure doesn't mess around when it comes to diets!!!

Fonderia Bakery bakes cookies with rude messages to discourage you from eating them.  Serious aversion therapy, somewhat akin to the oinking pig when you open the fridge door, but I'm not sure how effective they would be...

It occurs to me that you could hide the messages with a dollop of icing.  ;)

Obviously this is absurd as a real gift, but still funny for a practical joke...

A word of caution though: if purchasing these for your girlfriend, I'd recommend sleeping with one eye open for a while...

Anniversaries and Life Changing Milestones

Pin It It's my 5 month Bloggerversary!!!

I just realized this as I was working on another post, and I decided it's an important enough milestone that it deserves to be celebrated... or at least get an honorable mention ;)

I read on many other sites that most bloggers don't make it past the six month mark.  They get discouraged or uninspired and their blogs fall to the wayside, disappearing into cyberspace.

When I first started this blog, I was in a hypomania episode and was so inflated that I was completely convinced that I had found the answer to all of my prayers.  Later, when I started to feel depressed again, the blog became neglected and I feared that I would be like most bloggers and let my blog die.

But I'm still here.  Maybe not as frequently, but I'm still here.

This is also partly due to the wonderful people I've met since starting this endeavour.  There's Kristen, who reaches out to me when I've been quiet for too long.  And Amy, who'll have private rant conversations with me through Twitter.  And Marie-Louise, who's struggles worry me the most, her trials are many, but still, she is kind-hearted enough to check up on me when I don't check in often enough.  There are many more, such as Tony over at Broowaha

So maybe blogging really has been the answer to all my prayers, as I've finally found a venue for my voice, and in the process, found the support system I so desperately needed.  While I haven't reached the levels of page views and followers I covet yet, I've helped at least a handful of people, and that feels pretty good.

Whether you have Bipolar, Depression, Anxiety, or any other disorder, there are people out there just like you, with experiences just like yours.  It may even shock you to see how similar, and to discover that things you never thought to associate to your disorder seem to be a common trait amongst our kind.

Lean on me, because some day I may need to lean on you too, as the song used to go.

Thanks so much for being with me on this journey, it's far from over, and it can only get better.  I still dare to dream, dare to believe.  I can make great things happen for me and my family, and I can do it on my own terms.

Here's to the next 5 months!

Much Love,
Felicia

Top 20 Favourite Songs Ever

Twitter is trending 20 Top Favourite Songs Ever right now and it made me think this would make for a fun post.

Music is everything to me.  I'm not the best of singers, but I can usually carry a decent tune, and nothing calms my nerves more than losing myself in a song I love.

So here's my list, in no particular order:

  1. All I want to Do is Make Love to You (Hart)
  2. Hotel California (The Eagles)
  3. Cecilia (Simon and Garfunkle)
  4. Help (The Beatles)
  5. Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd)
  6. Is There Anybody Out There (Pink Floyd)
  7. Patricia (Chris de Burgh) - If you've never heard this song before, you need to.  Right now.  See, I've made it easy for you. Your welcome.

8. Comfortably Numb (Pink Floyd)
9. Can't Take That Away From Me (Mariah Carey)
10. Keep on Singing My Song (Christina Aguilera)
11. Spanish Train (Chris de Burgh)
12. Yesterday (The Beatles)
13. All By Myself (Celine Dion's Version)
14. The Stairway to Heaven (Led Zepplin)
15. Family Portrait (Pink)
16. Didn't Mean to Break Your Heart (The Barenaked Ladies)
17. Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)
18. Don't Stop Me Now (Queen)
19. Hate Me (Blue October)
20. You Can Call Me Al (Paul Simon)  - this one I've loved since childhood... I used to say "Daddy! Daddy!  Put the best friend song on!!!"  We were all so cute once upon a time... Le Sigh.

I came up with this list pretty quickly, it didn't really require much thought, but I bet I could come up with a hundred more that would deserve a nod.  I kind of wanted to add some Bruno Mars to my list, but I don't think he can count in the "All Time" category if I've only loved him for a few months...

Funky French Manicure How To

Pin It I found this great new product the other day and am so happy with my results I thought I'd share.

It's called Art Deco, and I found it at the local junk store when I was picking up a birthday card.  It comes in almost every colour under the sun, and was only $2.00, so I decided to try it.

What I liked best about this nail polish is the brush:  It is very long with a very fine tip.  Perfect for detail work!

I've seen many variations of this type of nail polish, I'm pretty sure any brand you can find locally will do the job.

I started with a clear base coat, did two coats of the silver, trying to keep the lines straight.  The brush was helpful, and it was pretty easy.  The sparkles in the polish makes the nails feel a little bumpy, but two generous coats of a clear top coat smoothed it right out.

I swear the toughest part of a manicure is managing  not to screw it up while it dries!  It may feel dry to the touch, but if you've done several coats, it will take longer to cure, so any actual pressure could dent or smudge all your hard work.  (which happens to me probably 50% of the time, despite my best efforts!)

I love how much they sparkle!!!  This would be beautiful for a night out... perhaps
for the upcoming hot Valentine's day date you've got planned?

One last quick tip:  Did you know that if you're out of nail polish remover, you can use fresh nail polish to remove the old stuff?  Simply apply a thin coat and wipe, the new polish will remove the old.  Humph.  Who would have thought?

Much Love,
